Ando turned to the CMO, repressing the urge to laugh,
"The Hartington has requested we standby, and as Captain Brennon is the task force commander, I am inclined to obey his orders."
"Grolik to bridge. Everything is A-OK down here in engineering. Not sure if you're waiting on us or not, but there wasn't any damage from the impact of the eddies. We're good to go whenever you want."
Ando replied to the page, without taking his eyes from Dr. Skyna,
"Acknowledged, Mr. Grolik." Ando walked over the the Dr. lowering his voice,
"Dr. Skyna, I would appreciate it if you wish to challenge my authority you do it in private, not in front of the crew. Either take your station or return to sickbay, but I will have no more outbursts on my bridge. Dismissed."
Ando turned back to the command chair, taking a seat and addressing the bridge.
"Make sure the cloak is ready in case we need it, and I want preparations for maximum warp." _________________

Skyna moved to the side sullenly and red. He hadn't meant his outburst, but it seemed to be just the type of thing he had been railing against for years. The Federation's slow and ponderous decision making! Why? What was the holdup? To Skyna it seemed fairly straightforward. Follow the trail, find the badguys, kick some alien tail, return satellite, be hero! What is so complicated?
But still, that is probably why he was not in command. So, he sat silent and sulking, watching the 3d display with no more to say. _________________

***INCOMING TRANSMISSION: USS HARTINGTON*****
"USS Archer is to set pursuit course and follow energy indications to source with all haste. Hartington and Guaridan to remain on station until sensor contact is made with suspect vessels. Archer is to avoid engaging the unknown vessels until fleet arrives to assist and tactical situation is known."
The Hartington cloaks immediately following the transmission, leaving the Guardian seemingly alone in space. _________________

Ando jumps out of his seat, seemingly as anxious as Skyna was.
"Activate cloak! Helm, pursuit course, best speed! Lt. Solana, I want maximum range on scanners! Lets find this satellite." He strides forward, standing right behind the helm officer.
"Captain, cloak engaged, all readouts are green."
Osaka watches as his crew jumps into action, he glances over at the Medical officer, giving him the briefest of smiles, before turning forward again.
This is more like it _________________

**ACTION***
The Archer moved out of the system their sensors locked on the trail left by the thieving fleet. Even with their sophisticated new sensor grid, nothing appeared on their screens for the first 2 days, though it was clear that they were on the right path, as the eddies gained strength as they travelled along. At the beginning of the third day, sensor contact was made. A strong magnetic reading alerted the science team first, followed shortly by multiple sensor hits. Almost at the same time, a focused transmission came over the speakers on the new ship's bridge.
"You now see our power. You will comply. A tribute is required. Failure to provide the materials will result in the destruction of your lower continent."
A small system came into view. It had a small sun and only 2 planets. The fleet appeared to be orbiting the further of the two. The Mandrake was immediately identifiable. It was massive. Every bit as large as the Frieka reported. In orbit over the planet, it had trained the Dynamo satellite at the atmosphere and a powerful magnetic wave was being sent to the surface and evidently disrupting the planet's natural field. Sensors indicate tremendous earthquakes and atmospheric disturbance. As the Archer enters the sytem they come to a stop. Something was not right here. The readings made no sense and the fleet appeared to be a ragtag team of disparate ships from all over the galaxy.
Suddenly a ship came into close proximity, appearing from the far side of the nearest planet. It was a Jem'hadar battle ship, though heavily damaged and repaired. Despite a lack of lifesigns on board, it was sweeping space with an anti-proton beam, and closing on the Archer's position. We pick up the story there...... _________________

Osaka watched on viewer taking in the view," Lieutenant, send an encrypted message to the Hartington, we have found the ships. Send our coordinates and request immediate assistance." Ando approached the helm, "Take us in closer, nice and easy." _________________

**STORY**
The Jem'Hadar battle ship stops in its track. The sweeping anti-proton beam suddenly narrows and concentrates in the vicinity of the Archer.
For a moment it seemed as though they had found the Hannibal class vessel, but the newest Federation hull worked to perfection. In a moment the sweep widened, and the battered warship moved through, passing almost within a dozen kilometers of the cloaked Archer.
Lt. Solana begins her sensor sweeps. _________________

OOC we used the Iconian view screen... Ok so I was posting on my Ipod touch, apparently that is too much distraction. I'll try to keep my crew straight. On another note, we might want to narrow down who exactly serves on the Archer on away missions, since Ops helm and Tactical are currently just faceless Lt.s
Edited post, I am perfect once again. Slaps positronic brain _________________

(OOC: Yes, we can work that out this weekend (maybe) I'm traveling to Pittsburgh Friday, so I will attempt to have things organized on the SMS by then. As far as the viewscreen....OK, sorry...just thought I liked a 3D Holographic screen better, but Starfleet knows best! ) _________________

*ACTION*
As the Guardian enters the system in question, things go bad immediately. Long range sensors identify several ships, some alien, some not. Closest to them a Jem'hadar battle ship, which closes ranks as the Federation ship comes into range. Followed closely is a Breen raider and coming around by the far side of the planet is a Federation Oberth class science ship.
All three vessels appear to have received heavy damage and on-going repair. While there are no life-signs on them, there is indication of Borg signatures, and what appear to be carrier waves in the upper EM band coming from the Mandrake to each ship. The ships are now on an intercept course with the Guardian, their shields and weapons active. THere is no sign of the Archer.
Once within range, the firing starts. Phaser, disruptor and Polaron beams lash against the Guardian's shield. The Breen raider activates it's energy dampening beam, and though at half-strength, the Guardian's shields drop by half. The three attack craft seem intent on destroying them.
Meanwhile, the Klingon bird-of-prey, detected by the far planet earlier on, cloaks and disappears. Strangely, just before it cloaked, there seemed to be a single Klingon lifeform aboard..... _________________

Osaka watches as what appeared to be every ship they were trying to locate suddenly converged on the Guardian and began firing.
"Helm, take us in, attack speed. Target the Battlecruiser, drop cloak and raise shields at the last possible moment." Within moments, the ships lighting shifts from cloaked mode to red alert, and a string of pulse phaser blasts rocks the Jem'Hadar ship as the Archer strafes across it's port bow. _________________

THE WRAP UP:
Despite their numbers, the odd fleet of attackers was no match for the Federation ships. The Archer's nimble maneuvering and fire power cut through the weakend shields of the ragtag group readily, accompanied by the sheer strength of the Excelsior's weaponry. In short order the attack was over, with two of the three attacking ships destroyed, and the Federation ship left drifting by design. The loss of the ships slowly eliminated the carrier waves eminating from the massive Mandrake, until finally only one remained. But it was not coming from the alien monstrosity, but rather to it.
A quick triangulation revealed the klingon Bird-of-Prey, designated the Pach. As it turned out, the Pach was a survivor of the battle of Chin'tokka. Damage to the warp core had sent the Pach screaming into the Gamma quadrant for days, but ultimately the suriviving crew got it under control. It was chance that brought them into contact with the huge alien ship. It was a derelict, having been invaded by the Borg some time earlier. The borg were unsuccessful it seemed, as their technology mutated an alien computer program into a virus, wiping out the invaders. As a result, the Pach found themselves in control of the ship, which they then designated the Mandrake. Using portions of the Borg nano-tech and alien computer components, the Pach created a control system that turned the Mandrake into a huge automated weapon.
As time went on the crew argued as to how to best use the vehicle. A fight broke out and Kaarth, the klingon commander, emerged victorious but alone, commanding both ships through the automatic relay. He then had a brainstorm. Using the borg nano-tech, he would commandeer damaged or derelict ships, create an automated fleet and raid or terrorize other species, rebuilding his forces until something better came along. Hence, the ragtag fleet. His first conquest was the Aurora Borealis, the Federation ship heavily damaged by an unexpected magnoscopic storm and left abandoned by the remaining crew. Next came the others, and then quite by chance, he came across the Frieka.
Task Force Gamma arrested Kaarth, destroyed his ship and the other transports, and returned the satellite to the Frieka. As the Mandrake was simply too large and complex, they placed a transponder beacon on it and the Borealis, and notified Starfleet Command. The Frieka swore their everlasting loyalty and pointed out planets in the sector where large dilithium deposits could be found. They also accepted technology suggestions from the fleet and offered the crew a week's shore leave to enjoy the pristine nature of the planet.
It was a job well done, and showed that the Archer would indeed be a force in this sector.
(OOC: I will leave this open to you for posting wrapups or any POST ACTION REVIEW you might like to have. THANK YOU FOR PLAYING! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT, SORRY IT DRAGGED IN SPOTS)...... _________________
