USS Guardian - Staff Room
Lt. Mehvra-Kuplo
Grabbing a seat with a PADD in hand, Mehv is intently reading reports on the current situation. He gives a nod to Daniels before returning to the PADD.
As frequently happens, being down in Engineeing, Mehv doesn't get to stay on top of current events as well as he would like. _________________

OOC feel free to post your arrival, but I'm going to go ahead and get the meeting started for the sake of advancing the story a bit.
Marek looks around at his assembled senior staff, his look graver than normal.
"We just received word from the Archer that they have found the Freika station. It is being used to blackmail another world. The Archer has requested assistance to engage the enemy. There are an unknown number of vessels at this time, although we have confirmation of the massive vessel and a Jem'Hadar battlecruiser. We also know of Federation, Breen, and possibly Klingon vessels. Mehvra, we are going to need everything we can get from the engines, the Archer will need our help sooner rather than later. Lt. Vanquax, assuming the Hartington and the Guardian can arrive in time, what is our tactical situation?" _________________

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Conference room
Taarak sat quietly listening to the officers give their reports on their readiness as the Guardian traveled on its way to meet up with the Hartington and the Archer. He didn't know what, if anything, he would have to add to the meeting except on the flight end of things.
Taarak needed the short break from the helm, allowing an ensign to stand in his place while the senior crew was gathered in the conference room.
"Captain, I believe we should keep the Guardian, Archer and Hartington away from each other. The Federation has a nasty habit of arriving in hostile situations with all the ships clumped together. It's hard to hit three ships not close to each other. Just my thoughts, Sir," Taarak said. "Other than that, all flight operations will be ready for evasive maneuvering if need be." _________________

*ACTION*
As the Guardian enters the system in question, things go bad immediately. Long range sensors identify several ships, some alien, some not. Closest to them a Jem'hadar battle ship, which closes ranks as the Federation ship comes into range. Followed closely is a Breen raider and coming around by the far side of the planet is a Federation Oberth class science ship.
All three vessels appear to have received heavy damage and on-going repair. While there are no life-signs on them, there is indication of Borg signatures, and what appear to be carrier waves in the upper EM band. THe ships are now on an intercept course with the Guardian, their shields and weapons active. THere is no sign of the Archer.
Once within range, the firing starts. Phaser, disruptor and Polaron beams lash against the Guardian's shield. The Breen raider activates it's energy dampening beam, and though at half-strength, the Guardian's shields drop by half. The three attack craft seem intent on destroying them.
Meanwhile, the Klingon bird-of-prey, detected by the far planet earlier on, cloaks and disappears. Strangely, just before it cloaked, there seemed to be a single Klingon lifeform aboard..... _________________

Lt. Cmdr. Jonathan Adams
USS Guardian
Bridge
Adams gripped onto the arms of the center chair as the Guardian rocked from the phaser and disruptor fire. "Shields up! Senior officers to the bridge!" yelled as the crew was still in the conference room meeting. "Engineering, get us more power to the shields, now!"
Adams jumped to his feet — knowing the captain would soon be coming — and jogged to the tactical position assisting the officer there. "What the hell are the Federation, Klingon and Breen ships doing out here. Officer, was that just a Klingon lifeform that appeared before that vessel when to cloak?"
Adams looked up as the senior officers entered the bridge from the conference room.
"Captain, we've reached the site. Several ships, including Federation, Klingon and Breen. They opened attack on us almost immediately. Shields are down to half, we're working on getting more power to them." _________________

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Bridge
Taarak jumped into the helmsmans seat, allowing the ensign sitting there to catch her breath after the attack. The Orion's hand flew over the console. "Flight control is responding, but it's sluggish."
Taarak kept his eyes on the viewscreen and his console in front of him, waiting for the captain's next orders. _________________

Marek stumbled to the command chair as the ship is rocked by another set of direct hits from the apparent enemy vessels.
"Target shields and weapons! Fire at will, all targets!" Marek tapped his console, "Helm, bring us about to heading 215.4 mark 2, we need to get out of the crossfire!"
Marek looks up at the holographic viewscreen in time to see the Archer decloak and begin firing on the Jem'Hadar vessel. _________________

Lt. Taarak
USS Guardian
Bridge
Taarak watched the viewscreen as he plugged in the course the captain ordered. He was stunned to see the Archer move so swiftly betwen the other vessels. "Course laid in sir, heading 215.4, mark 2," Taarak said as the Guardian began to shift out of the crossfire.
The Orion continued to watch the viewscreen, making adjustments on his console, avoiding enemy ships as he also watched the Archer go to work and the Guardian return fire. _________________

Main Engineering
Lt Mehvra-Kuplo
Mehv arrives after the first few hits and stumbles, needing to lean on a nearby wall to keep himself upright. A coolant leak springs forth from a high pressure containment guide. The team quickly stems the flow and a repair is made.
An alert from the bridge grabs his attention. Lt Cmdr Adams wrote: | "Engineering, get us more power to the shields, now!" | Mehv moves to a console and uses the power reserve for initiating the warp shielding to bolster the shields. He notices that ops rerouted some sensor power flow into the shields also and moves on to help with the coolant leak issue. _________________

THE WRAP UP:
Despite their numbers, the odd fleet of attackers was no match for the Federation ships. The Archer's nimble maneuvering and fire power cut through the weakend shields of the ragtag group readily, accompanied by the sheer strength of the Excelsior's weaponry. In short order the attack was over, with two of the three attacking ships destroyed, and the Federation ship left drifting by design. The loss of the ships slowly eliminated the carrier waves eminating from the massive Mandrake, until finally only one remained. But it was not coming from the alien monstrosity, but rather to it.
A quick triangulation revealed the klingon Bird-of-Prey, designated the Pach. As it turned out, the Pach was a survivor of the battle of Chin'tokka. Damage to the warp core had sent the Pach screaming into the Gamma quadrant for days, but ultimately the suriviving crew got it under control. It was chance that brought them into contact with the huge alien ship. It was a derelict, having been invaded by the Borg some time earlier. The borg were unsuccessful it seemed, as their technology mutated an alien computer program into a virus, wiping out the invaders. As a result, the Pach found themselves in control of the ship, which they then designated the Mandrake. Using portions of the Borg nano-tech and alien computer components, the Pach created a control system that turned the Mandrake into a huge automated weapon.
As time went on the crew argued as to how to best use the vehicle. A fight broke out and Kaarth, the klingon commander, emerged victorious but alone, commanding both ships through the automatic relay. He then had a brainstorm. Using the borg nano-tech, he would commandeer damaged or derelict ships, create an automated fleet and raid or terrorize other species, rebuilding his forces until something better came along. Hence, the ragtag fleet. His first conquest was the Aurora Borealis, the Federation ship heavily damaged by an unexpected magnoscopic storm and left abandoned by the remaining crew. Next came the others, and then quite by chance, he came across the Frieka.
Task Force Gamma arrested Kaarth, destroyed his ship and the other transports, and returned the satellite to the Frieka. As the Mandrake was simply too large and complex, they placed a transponder beacon on it and the Borealis, and notified Starfleet Command. The Frieka swore their everlasting loyalty and pointed out planets in the sector where large dilithium deposits could be found. They also accepted technology suggestions from the fleet and offered the crew a week's shore leave to enjoy the pristine nature of the planet.
It was a job well done, and showed that the Archer would indeed be a force in this sector.
(OOC: I will leave this open to you for posting wrapups or any POST ACTION REVIEW you might like to have. THANK YOU FOR PLAYING! I HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT, SORRY IT DRAGGED IN SPOTS)...... _________________
