Uvek watched the young Augment enter and nodded to a seat near the science console, opposite his station behind the co-pilot's seat. Somehow, despite the introduction the crew received, Uvek liked the young buck. He reminded him of himself in some ways. Smart, sneaky, and bold. Taken in moderation each was a good quality and Uvek was sure that with proper guidance, Antonio could well be an asset. However, at the moment, he had to uphold the company line.

"I have encrypted your console, however, Mr. Coelho. You should be able to provide moderate sensor information, but little else." He smiled briefly. "Don't worry, crewman. They did not trust me for some time, and I came aboard in legitimate fashion."

Spinning around he said "Pre-flight computers aligned, Mr. Croft. Sensors active and defensive systems standing by."

" They did not trust me for some time, and I came aboard in legitimate fashion."

Calodan entered and cringed at Uvek's comment. He knew Romulan's were often cynical..but that takes the cake. "On the contrary Mr. Uvek, most of the crew trusted you from the beginning, but that is neither here nor there. If the preflight is done, I think we're ready to depart."

Calodan tapped a command on the co-pilot's console and opened a channel to the Bridge. "Williamette to Hartington. Requesting permission to depart."

Uvek's cheek went slightly green, but he said nothing. Of course, the senior crew trusted him, he thought, but he knew several on the crew that had significant reservations on giving their allegiance to a Romulan, despite what Starfleet said. Still, it was a moot point, as he had proven himself and now enjoyed the full support of his security staff and even others beyond his direct supervision.

He smiled to himself and activated the sensor grid. "Standing by Lieutenant Calodan."

Croft nodded when Uvek spoke to him, trying to hide his smile from the young engineer, "Excellent, all systems go." He acknowledged Calodan, "Departure trajectory entered, we are cleared for launch." The runabout cleared the shuttlebay and began heading towards the station.

OOC: Action scene will be first thing in the AM. Sorry for the delay, apparently my vacation wasn't as relaxing as I had intended.

Location: Flight Deck, Runabout Williamette
The Runabout lifted off of the deck and sailed out of its mother ship, Lieutenant Croft maneuvering the craft towards their target. As the runabout moved in, Lieutenant Calodan's console lit up with a message in a the same alien language that was being broadcast across the system by the station. Moments later, a tractor beam locked onto the runabout and began to draw them in towards an opening on the satellite.

Location: Central Market, Qam-Chee, chu'Qo'noS

The Away Team materialized in a highly populated sector of the market, causing several nearby natives to leap out of the way. The moment the transporter released them, the away team could only hear the cries of frightened Klingons -- as well as the threatening sounds of the natives. As they spoke out at the aliens, the Klingons could not be understood. The Universal Translator seemed to be having a difficult time locking onto their language. After a moment, Lieutenant Korax looked to Commander Qech.

"They are speaking an old form of my language, Commander. An obscure dialect... I am not sure of everything they are saying. I do, however understand one particular word: Hur'q."

Croft's fingers flew over the controls as alarms began to sound and the ship began to shudder. "Lt. we just got caught in some type of tractor beam, hull stress is exceeding design tolerances." Another hard buck of the deck, "I'm going to have to shut down the engines in about a minute."

Qech barely had time to register what had happened when the sounds of panic reached her ears. Once again having to bite back to effects of the transporter sickness, she looked around only to find herself in the center of what looked like a high population area. Chief Blair must have gotten the coordinations wrong; definitely a first for her.

Here we go again was the first thought to enter her mind. The second was the unfamiliarity of the language the natives were speaking. Korax seemed to be thinking the same thing.

"They are speaking an old form of my language, Commander. An obscure dialect... I am not sure of everything they are saying. I do, however understand one particular word: Hur'q."

The Commander tensed at the word. "Outsiders... Wonderful." She looked around to her team. "Lieutenant Lioy, I'd ask what you are picking up, but I think it's pretty obvious at the moment."

Careful not to make any sudden movements, she looked to Korax. "It would probably be unwise for anyone but you to make the first move here, ambassador."

(On the shuttle)

Coelho ran a quick scan on the satellite once the tractor beam locked on, in case there was any information in the beam, or anything new, being unaware of how much the crew already knew. As he waited for the scan to bring in its results, a question crossed his mind, "Lieutenant, how long does it normally take the universal translator to learn a language? It's a bit uncomfortable, not knowing what they're telling us. I'd love to know if it's to the brig with us, or we're guests welcome to dinner."

Edit: Retroactive location stamping

"Yes, sir," Aria agreed wryly, watching the natives clear out.

Aria cleared her throat. "I agree, however...if the language barrier continues to be a problem, I could always try to speak to one telepathically." She shrugged. "Just...putting it on the table."

USS Williamette

Quote:
"I'm going to have to shut down the engines in about a minute."

"Shut down the engines Mr. Croft. There is no point in ripping the ship apart. We won't break free on brute force. I'm modulating the deflectors and throwing up every bit of feedback I can get and the tractor beam has stuck. Mr. Uvek, open a channel to the Hartington and update them on our status."

"That is a good question Mr. Coelho. It really depends on the language. Some languages the translator never picks up on. I'd have to say I hope this is an invitation. Im reading plenty of power on that station that could be used for weapons if they wanted to do us harm."

USS Willamette
Helm
Xavier Croft

With a few quick commands, the ship smooths out, and the background hum of the ships engines reduces to an idle.

"Engines shutdown, we will be within the station in three minutes." Croft checks that his personal phaser is there, then glances at Calodan.

"Hope they are friendly."

LOCATION: RUNABOUT:

Mr. Uvek, open a channel to the Hartington and update them on our status."

Uvek's fingers accessed the necessary combination. "Strange that they are not blocking our transmission, Lt. Calodan." he said aloud, "They are either supremely confident, or unsure of our intentions. I do not recommend any sudden militarized action."

He moved to help Coehlo work the sensors....So much for locking him out, he thought..."Mr. Coehlo, I have released full sensors to your station. Please do what you can with them."
