ACTION

The Archer hurtles across the galactic void, her crew preparing for likely battle. After several hours, they reach the source of the distress call.

"Commander, we are approaching the Myosian freighter's last known coordinates."

Ando shifts in his seat, a dour expression on his face, "Drop to 1/2 impulse, raise shields."

Decker taps the console, then speaks, "Sensor's indicate the freighter has stabilized it's warp core. There is some sensor interference from the nearby asteroid field."

"Commander... I concur with the Liutenant's readings. My sensors are reading a Nekrali vessel reteating into the Asteroid Belt." Smith felt his stomach tighten, as though he was spoiling for a fight.... "Commander do you wish for me to attempt an engine shot?"

Ando glances at Smith, then back at the holographic viewscreen, "Pursuit course, As soon as we are within range Mr. Smith, make it so."
The Archer chases the Nekrali vessel into the asteroid field, but is unable to close the distance before the ship enters the debris field. The Archer maintains pursuit, but after ten minutes has still failed to close the distance enough for a clear shot. Suddenly, Decker shouts, "Commander! Sensors are detecting... " The ship bucks as if struck, and a brief moment of pandemonium ensues, lighting completely fails as consoles explode, and everyone is knocked to the deck.

Grolik grabbed the nearest bulkhead near him as the ship rocked. He jumped over to the console. "Bridge, we have minor breaches on lower decks, I'm dispatching repair teams.." Grolik felt a a slight pain in his hand looked down to see a 3-inch gash from which the ship rocked.

Chief Smith
DS-27/Alterran Station
T.A.D Aboard USS Archer

Chief Smith lifted his head off the Aux-Tac console, only to see the rest of the bridge crew strewn around the bridge, unconscious.

"Computer," stated Smith, followed by a question, "what is our current status?"

"Currently, the USS Archer is adrift in an unidentified asteroid field. Shields are at 31% and communications are non-functioning. What is your directive?"

"Computer, have we been attacked by something?"

"Current scans are consistant with Tal'Harton weapons fire."

So is that a yes or a no? thought Smith, I'll err toward yes.

"Computer, why were we unable to detect the attack from the Tal'Harton ships?"

"There are heavy metals and dilithium deposits which interfere with Archer sensors."

Archer makes his way to where Commander Osaka is lying on the floor.

"Computer, activate Starfleet EMH." Smith said, activating the holographic doctor, who had all the bedside manner of a Mugatu.

"Please state the nature of the Medical Emergency..."

"Commander Osaka is unresponsive. I need a field evaluation and stablization if posible."

"I will work on Commander Osaka." said the EMH. "He appears to have internal injuries. I will stableize him."

Decker begins to come to... a little dazed, he looks at Smith, and asks "Chief, what the hell happened?"

"We were attacked by a Tal'Harton attack group masked by the debris field. Shields are at 31% and systems are offline. I've got the EMH working on stablizing Commander Osaka"

"What happened to Osaka?? Where is Doctor Skyna?"

"Internal injuries. Probably something that happened during the attack. El-Tee, like I said, all systems are offline. Without communications or Turbolift, I had to activate the EMH."

Decker, looking even more stressed, turns to Smith. "Chief, I'm an engineer. I'm not in the command track. I'd feel better if you took Command Chief."

"As honored as I am sir, I gladly leave command up to you. I will be here to advise you as things come up. If you need help, that's what I'm here for."

Lieutenant Decker reluctantly sat in the center chair. He took a deep breath as he gave his first command.

"Chief... I need you to assist me in getting communications back online and a distress call back to the station."

"Aye sir." said Smith, hoping that the Engineering Crewman he befriended on Starbase 135 had taught him enough.

Crewman Indarana came to just a few steps away from the Dammage Control station, and sat up suddenly.
"Crewman, sit up slowly. Take your time." said Chief Smith.
"Aye Chief. What happened?"

Smith went into detail with the young crewman, who was nursing a twisted ankle she got on her way to her station seconds prior to the attack.

Ensign B'ran D'Skivvies, an andorian Science officer came to next. After being brought up to speed, he went to work on getting Shields back to acceptable parameters as well as getting Turbolift access restored.

Suddenly, the floor hatch opened up, and Doctor Skyna and a Security Specialist popped up through.

"Is everyone okay?" asked Skyna, doing a requisite survey of the bridge, discovering Commander Osaka being worked on by the EMH."You there... go back down to Sickbay and bring me some more supplies and a portable medical bed kit."

"I'm a doctor, not a delivery boy." said the EMH, abruptly reminding Skyna of his holographic status.

Grolik pryed open the turbolift doors just enough to squeeze onto the bridge, falling from exhaustion as soon as he stepped aboard, seeing just a quick glance of the EMH program and Doctor Skyna.

It was a long climb through the turbolift shaft as the turbolifts weren't operational.

Grolik mumbled. "Engineering is in shambles, we'll have more luck with repairs up here." The Denobulan sat on the floor, still weak from the climb. "Half of my repair teams are down there doing what they can. Communication seems to be on the fritz too around the ship."

Chief Smith nodded in agreement with Lt. Grolik.

"I agree Lieutanant. I can monitor Tactical as soon as we get sensors back online. I'm confident once we regain Tactical, Comm is just around the corner."

Slowly but surely, time passed, and the crew of USS Archer came back online gradually. In the 18+ hours that had passed, the crew was successful at regaining Turbolift access and Computer controls. Doctor Skyna had gotten Commander Osaka to sickbay for treatment, as well as crew with somewhat minor injuries, and the hum of activity returned to the decks of the Archer.

Chief Smith alerted Lt. Decker.

"Lieutenant, I've got tactical back online as well as filtered long range sensors."

"What have you got Chief?" asked the weary Lieutenant.

"Nothing good, I'm afraid. Long range sensors are picking up Warp signatures of Tal'Harton ships just about 12 parsecs away. That gives us roughly 8 hours of time before we can expect more visitors."

"Have we sent out the Distress Signal?"

"As soon as communications came back online sir. No reply to our request for assistance yet though."

36 hours had passed, and by now it was apparent, that for the time being the Archer was on its own.

"Chief," said Lieutenant Decker, "What is our current Tactical Status?"

"Shields fully restored, and Warp Drive still offline. We have Impulse engines and Lt. Grolik assures me the Warp Drive is his top priority."

"Very Well. Status on the Tal'Harton?"

"ETA for contact is 12 hours. Don't worry sir. We won't go down without a fight."

"Honestly Chief, I'm hoping we won't go down at all." said Decker.

OOC I'm back, but I will let this play out a little bit before Osaka wakes up.

Decker taps his console, then looks to Chief Smith, "Chief, maybe we should use the asteroid field to our advantage, we could hide among the asteroids just as well as the ships that attacked us."

"Good idea El-Tee. I'll make a course for the asteroid belt. Shields should hold while we're hiding. We can make our stand there while Warp Drive is being worked on. I'll check with Lt. Grolik on that status."

The first thing Ando noticed was the fact that his head was pounding, and he was laying on something that was slightly more comfortable than his bunk. He was just considering opening his eyes when the familiar voice of Dr. Skyna spoke.

"Welcome back to the land of the living, Commander. You've been unconscious for longer than I had hoped."

Ando opened his eyes, the familiar face of the Dr. smiling down at him. He slowly sat up, the change in blood pressure causing his head to throb for a moment.

"The amount of head trauma you had, your lucky to be alive. You'll probably have some discomfort for a few more hours, but it will pass. What do you remember?"

Ando thought for a moment, "We were chasing a Tal'Harton vessel towards an asteroid field, then the ship did a targ impression." Ando closed his eyes, rubbing his temple. "How is the rest of the crew? The ship?"

"I can't tell you much about the ship, although things were definitely bad for awhile, we lost power and communications for sure. Luckily for the rest of the crew, yours was the most serious injury. The rest were relatively minor."

Chief Smith was doing his final check on Tactical systems.
"Lieutenant... I'm done with my system checks. Shields now fully restored, and Warp Drive is at 75%."

"What are our capabilities Chief?"

"We're good for Warp 5, full phasers and quantum torpedos. I wouldn't recomend any bumps, bit we're good for a fight if the Tal'Harton want one sir!"
