Location: Commander Qech's quarters, 300 hrs
Time: sometime before "flux"
Qech could see their faces as they peered down at her in unblinking curiosity. Their hands were cold, like their eyes and their instruments. They hissed at each other in some tongue she didn't recognize, one of them gesturing to the fact that she was awake. This was news that didn't seem to matter to them one bit as they continued their invasive examination. She relived every second. The cutting, the stabbing pain, the stomach pump, all of it. But the clearest and most horrifying of the memories came not from her, but from the symbiont, as it reached out to her in agony the only way it could; with memories. Every moment of pain that her five past hosts had experienced was now hers to relive, even as she suffered herself. The symbiont, in its own unique way, was screaming. She opened her mouth to scream too...
Davynn woke up in a cold sweat, taking a moment to process the fact that it had all been a nightmare. A nightmare that she'd been forced to relive many times. Shaking, she got out of bed for a glass of water. As she stood up, the memories overwhelmed her again...
The last moments of her life came flashing back in waves, not just one life, but several. She felt at least six pairs of fists pummel against her body. Broken glass from a shattered bottle was driven into her side. An explosion, shrapnel everywhere. She struggled to breath as the air was sucked out of the Cabin. Then she was standing on a transporter pad, the swirl of familiar green light surrounded her. An intense pain in her abdomen. The symbiont was gone. A phaser blast, cutting through the sounds of battle. It found its target. The last thing she remembered was the image of her own face, looking down at her with words of comfort.
Qech supported herself on the night stand as the battering of painful memories subsided. Her deaths. The most horrible ones.
No. She corrected herself. Not my deaths, my past hosts'.
But the distinction was getting harder to make. In a last act of desperation, Qech came to a decision. Wiping the sweat from her brow, she threw on a robe a made her way to Counselor Lioy's quarters. She knew she'd be waking her. It was three in the morning after all. But she had to speak to someone.
Even after arriving at the door, Qech paced a little, wondering if she should forget the whole thing and try to go back to bed. Just before her will might have failed her, she rang the door chime. _________________

((OOC: Moved this to the new board. Figured I'd break it in. See the important announcements forum if you don't know what I'm talking about.) _________________
