Brennon nodded and made his way back around to his seat, motioning as he passed for the Counselor to sit.
"She is something, isn't she? M'Rowl has been with me since I was at the Academy, before the war. She's the most efficient administrator I've ever met... I don't think I'd be able to keep anything straight without her."
He smiled at the thought, delving into memories long past. As his mind turned to more undesired memories the Captain pushed the thoughts away, returning himself to the here and now. His smile never wavering he continued addressing Zeara.
"I'm glad you could make it aboard. The Hartington has 700 people aboard and Counselor Solek was already run ragged from the last few months. Post Traumatic Stress has been a problem aboard our ship, as I'm sure it has been most everywhere. War is never easy... Where did you serve during the war, Lieutenant?" _________________

Taking the offered seat, she crossed her legs and rested her hands on her lap. Always formality. That's what her mother had taught her. She watched the Captain as he spoke of M'Rowl and caught in him the same emotions and expressions as the woman had. She made a mental note to explore that at a later time, for now, she wanted to make a positive impression, so she refrained from any reading other than purely visable.
"I look forward to the challanges of my post. I do have some history in treating PTSD with the crash of the Enterprise-D."
She paused for a moment as she considered how to answer his question regarding where she served during the war.
"If you are refering to the Dominion War..." she asked as she looked away from him for a moment trying to fight her own frustration with her past before looking back at the Captain. "I was not... here... for the war."
She watched a confused look cross the Captain's face and divulged her answer further.
"As I'm sure you've had a chance to look at my Starfleet record, you would have seen that there is a span of time where I was not accounted for. There was an entity who calls himself Q that had given me an offer to... join them. Needless to say, I did not, and in consiquence he informed me that with my denial I was 'not fit for the time I was in'."
She paused for a moment to draw a deep breath.
"I lost four years and when Starfleet process their physical after my ship was recovered, they found that I am in possion of abilities similar to those of the Q." She smiled. "I have to admit that I am not ungrateful for that fact, it gives me an advantage that most of my race don't. I can read and project thoughts into a few races that I normally wouldn't be able to. My only regret is that Q informed me that he would visit me on occasion to be sure I had not changed my mind regarding his offer."
She ended her story with that statement and tired to read the expression on the Captain's face. She never liked telling that part of her past, most people were uncomfortable with the knowledge of her history. |
