His father served on multiple starfleet vessels, climbing the ranks in the medical department. His parents met when his mother (a petty officer onboard) had a minor injury and was treated by his father. A courtship ensued and they were married two years later. Byron was born on board the USS Tiburon in 2344. As his father was reassigned and promoted, Byron and his mother followed along, from ship to ship. Byron diplayed his fathers intelligence, perrenially leading his class, regardless of where the family happened to be stationed.
In 2362, upon completing school as valedictorian, he applied to Starfleet Academy to follow in his fathers footsteps. He scored extremely well on the entrance exams, but was not accepted. This was the first time in his life he did not receive top marks, but he was invited back the following year. It took him nearly that long to cope with his first 'failure', but with much encouragement from his parents, he returned. On his second try he was accepted, again however, not receiving the top mark.
During his four years in the Academy, he began to feel like a small fish in a big ocean for the first time. He eventually graduated from the six-year program with a major in Probability Mechanics and minors in Astrophysics and Exobiology in medicine. He ultimately learned how to work hard and apply himself during his tenure in Starfleet Academy, rather than simply relying on intelligence. He graduated top-five in his class.
Upon graduation, he was assigned as an ensign on the newly acquired Deep Space 9 as a Science Officer. It was determined that as a Bajoran, it would be a good fit due to the proximity and involvement of Bajor. He was part of the founding crew and quickly made great strides, finding his niche in weapons development. Around the time Enterprise-D offloaded a number of crew, he found himself occasionally being called into the Medical Lab for cross training. Also around this time his father was appointed to Chief Medical Officer and reassigned to the USS Odyssey. His mother retired, comfortably, to help found New Bajor in the Gamma quadrent. As he continued to contribute invaluably to DS9s Science department, he got shocking news. The Jem'Hadar had overrun New Bajor, slaughtering its people; his mother was dead. He was granted 1 week bereavement and spent it on Bajor with his father, mourning with each other and attending services for his late mother.
Returning to DS9 with a new burning in his he poured himself into his work, more determined than ever to make a mark against the Dominion and give meaning to his mothers death. Shortly thereafter the USS Odyssey docked into DS9 on its last stop before entering the Gamma Quadrent. Byron and his father said there final goodbyes, the Odyssey would not return. Trying hard not to give in to utter hatred for the Dominion he focus even further into his work and eventually was instrumental in the design and deployment of the mines used to cut off travel from the Gamma quadrent through the Bajoran Wormhole. When DS9 was overtaken he retreated onboard the USS Defiant.
When the time came for the Push to retake DS9 Byron was determined to contribute, and stayed aborad the USS Defiant during Operation Return. Eventually believing they had failed when the mines were destroyed and then entering the wormhole, only to return to the Alpha quadrant with nno Dominion Fleet on their tails. For his role in the implementation of the mines, and his braveery during Operation Return, Byron was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. In 2376, his ability and experience in warfare was deemed cause for Byron to be considered for transfer to the USS Hartington. With the opportunity to be an important member of the Medical or Science departments, and the potential to strike back in the Gamma quadrent, Byron is anxiously awaiting to find out if he will become the newest member of the USS Hartington. Only time will tell if he has what it takes... |

well done. Keep developing your character. It's got a lot of lore there, and there's a lot you can do.

Very good. I see a potential commanlity between your character and mine, who has a deep hatred for the Dominion... |

from the sounds of it, I have a lot of expectations at this Duty Station. I hope to live up to those expectations.
