Uvek touched his communications badge. "Dr. Kiv, this is Uvek." He started. "I wish to ensure that your triage area is standing by. Please confirm that you are prepared. I will have security meet you when the away team is on their way back."
He paused for a moment, considering his next words carefully, given the situation....but with the transfer off the ship of the marine contingent and Major Ludwigsen, the weight of his office began to sink in....his promotion was completely unexpected, but Starfleet seemed to have other plans for them and the marines. He knew he had to fill large shoes. From spy to reform agent to tactical officer to head of security all within 5 years. Amazing.
"Dr. Kiv," he continued, "Will the results of your examination on Lt. Vrassoc impact security aboard the ship?"
he awaited the reply...... |

Doctor Kiv's voice returned over the ship's comm system. She sounded more than a little annoyed when she spoke out to the Security Chief.
"Lieutenant, I've already told you I will have no more than one guard in my Sickbay during the treatment of whomever we rescue from the planet below. I'm prepared to go to the Captain if I have to..."
Her voice vanished for several seconds and, just before it could be assumed that she cut the link she continued speaking.
"With regards to Lieutenant Vrassoc... no, his autopsy should have no security impact aboard the ship." _________________

"Understood Doctor, thank you. I will see to it that you are not hindered. Thank you for your response."
He closed the channel, making a note to speak to his security details when he knew for sure the team was on its way back. Among other things, Dr. Kiv was bajoran, if memory served, and Uvek knew from experience what a temper that brought to the table. She was a capable medical expert, however, and so the need would be to avoid "pushing her buttons" as it were. Hnaev, there was a lot of learning to do on this ship. His time on DS9 had proven valuable to giving him knowledge of the ship's systems, but evidently the separation of training time did nothing to enhance his reading of the crew.
No matter, anything can be learned, he thought, and if it can be learned I can learn it. |
