Anyone ordered their IPad yet? I'm not much of a Mac man, but as a die hard Trek fan, I must say that is cool! _________________

I'll agree with you here, Chief... but it is a bit too pricey and I'll need to wait for the price to drop quite a bit for me to even consider it. _________________

I just barely got me an iPod touch, because it was too expensive.I finally found a good source on ebay, and my old iPod has been repurposed. I like the iPad in concept, but I can't justify it. It would be a toy, and that's a pretty expensive toy. _________________

My issue is the ecosystem built around the iPad by Apple. When the iPhone hit, most nerds were all agape at the features it had. Very quickly people realized they couldn't use 1/2 of what the hardware had because Apple (and ATT) were going to lock the phone down so far.
I carry an Android phone and Im very happy with the power and flexibility it provides. I have a full Linux Kernel in my pocket all the time, ready to go. I'm much more interested in some of the Android iPad 'clones' that are coming to market...before Apple get's their crap out the door.
BUT...on a nerd visceral level...OMFG I WANT THE SHINY! _________________

Personally I'm always a bit wary about apple products. They don't make most of their merchandise compatible with other companies (HP is the same way. What do you mean the POWER CORD doesn't come with it?! And it uses a special kind of USB cable? It costs HOW much?!) So you have to buy their version of something that's usually generic (which is far more expensive, just because you're paying for the brand name) or you are S.O.L _________________

$50. You got sucked into that trap too, I see. And...AND...the printer doesn't even work right!!!!
...I hate HP. _________________

I think I am changing my mind about the iPad. I downloaded an ebook reader, Stanza, for my iPod touch. The thing has been glued to my face. It's the first ebook program that I have actually liked the interface(Apples multitouch is pretty sweet). With the desktop add on it is easy to transfer any type of ebook to it via wireless. I am drooling just thinking about the larger screen. It probably won't be soon, but I would be surprised if I made past Christmas this year without getting one. I can fit hundreds of books and music on 8gb, I can't imagine what I could do with 32 or 64. *drools on keyboard* _________________
