okay... so I know I'm still a bit new to everything, but uh.... I have to admit that the timelines are kinda throwing me for a loop.

granted with forum posting, sometimes things get a little backlogged... but it seems that right now there are topics going simultaniously that occur days apart....

now are we just supposed to work on the ones that occur at an earlier date as though the events of the later date have not transpired? For a girl whose brain is used to running on several tracks at the same time, I have no probs with this issue, just wanted to make sure I play this all right!

so yeah, I'm just confused about being confused! Laughing

Sorry about this, you're not the first to have asked me this question.

This is how I'm thinking of things:

The Main Storyline is the current basis for where we are timeline wise. Everything in the secondary storylines section can take place at any time prior to the main story. Often the first post will reveal just where in the timeline a particular scene will be taking place, one hopes by something in the description of the scene or (better yet) an actual stardate.

So our Cadets are at once taking a training mission in the Holodeck and repairing the Runabouts several days later. I feel this allows for more stories for those who aren't in the "main" story as much for whatever reason.

So you can be involved with Mr. Koester's session and perhaps talk to Cardassian Professor Kolar in sickbay at the same time because they don't necessarily have to be at the same time. It would be assumed that they take place in different times, exactly when however is subject to some conjecture.

okay. that was what I was checking on. Thankfully that's the way my brain runs, so I'm all good with that... just wanted to make sure that's the way things were working before I made myself a bigger fool than I really am.... Cool

this site right here will be your biggest helper http://steve.pugh.net/fleet/stardate.html

For example the Meeting in the Main Story line had the star date pf 53772.5 which comes out as Sat, 09 Oct 2376, 17:38:24 (5:38:24 PM). That means the meeting broke up at diner time. So I ate in my personal log. Ensigns are always on watch or working. Makes them grow up big and strong Very Happy
So I know McTavish is going to have the midwatch. I scroll down to the reverse calculator and put in 10 10 2376 00 00 for Midnight 10 Oct 2376. Easy peasy lemon squeezy

Ill be waiting the slap from on high for this but in most commands, Those officers and enlisted who stand watch, seniority has its privileges. All enlisted up to Chief stand watches. Its how we learn our jobs. Senior Chiefs standing watch are rare but would be up too discussion between the Captain and the COB (Chief of the Boat). A Master Chief standing watch would be almost unheard of unless said Master Chief is being punished for something (ill get into mickey mouse court issues later if you would like), or he volunteers.
Cadets (under supervision and less than Ensigns) Stand Watch to receive training.
Ensigns Stand a standard watch (8 or if the Captain changes it, 6) and then work a standard watch (in a 6 hour watch rotation the Ensign usually works two watches.) The remaining watch is off time. Sleep, working out, attending to personal matters etc..
LT JG Almost the same as an Ensign but a couple hours more off time.
LT, LT CMDR, Stand a Watch and the are expected to put their remaining time to good use.
Commander and those holding the rank of Captain: will occasionally stand a watch to keep themselves sharp and their knowledge current. Will definitely respond to the Bridge in any Kind of Alert.
Captain of the Ship. He does pretty much what ever he wants as long as its in standing with Star Fleet Orders.

Hope this helps a little
