The time has come to discuss the other big Sci-Fi phenomenon. Who here is a Star Wars fan? Tell us what you think about George Lucas' crowning (only?) achievement. _________________

I for one am in fact a Star Wars fan. I can't help it, I just like cheesy writing and puppets.
I can live with the prequel trilogy, but my heart will always belong to the original three.
Not to mention the fact that it was a beast to make. I appriciate the work it took to make Star Wars. Just watch the making of documentaries for episodes 3-5, they are freaking amazing. They invented a lot of stuff we take for granted in modern cinema today... sadly Mr. Lucas decided to forsake his roots in actual cinematography and digitized EVERYTHING in the new movies.
Episode I wins the dumbest line ever award: "Are you an angel?"
Not a bad line in and of itself... okay, it is a bad line, but if delivered properly it would have been passable. Too bad the casting director didn't do his job! Pod Racing? LAME! Digital Jabba? LAME!
I enjoy the enhanced version of the original trilogy, only because it includes a few cut scenes, but overall I prefer the original cuts... it feels better to me somehow.
I'll give Star Wars this: They have a much richer Expanded Universe than Star Trek. The novels have always been in a special continuity all of their own, each one checked and rechecked for nitpicky errors. I like that. I'm reading Heir to the Empire right now... by far one of the best Star Wars books ever written, rivaling some of the recent Trek stuff (I'm not ready to concede that point though!) _________________

I am a big fan of Episodes IV through VI (A New Hope, Empire, and Return of the Jedi). Best of the three is definitely Empire Strikes Back.
As for the extended universe, a lot of it is good, a lot of it is bad.
As for I-III, TERRIBLE. OMG awful acting on the part of most of the actors (Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were fine though). The CGI was awful (look at the amazing cinematography in IV-VI) and the story lines were a bit...flat. _________________

I will say yes, but I must qualify three things.
1. KILL JAR JAR BINKS! KILL KILL KILL HIM! I HATE HATE HATE THAT RIDICULOUS CHARACTER!
2. KILL THE EWOKS! KILL KILL KILL THEM! I HATE HATE HATE THAT CHARACTER RACE!
3. Darth Vader Rules!
One last point....I just loved the saber fight with Darth Maul! Amazing fight with those two pot smoking hippies! LOL....still love the jedi! _________________

1. Can't argue with the Jar Jar hatred. That character was IMHO racist and just a waste of screenspace.
2. The Ewoks were adorable and spawned there own line of movies. Also, sold a crapton of toys. They weren't ALL bad.
3. Darth Vader was awesome BEFORE they made him an emo teenager. "NOOOOOO!" *room flexes* _________________

I agree....the TWEENS STRIKE BACK! LOL
And I agree...Empire Strikes back was my fave also.
Worst plot twist.....VIRGIN BIRTH OF ANAKIN SKYWALKER....oh come on!
Worst scene: traveling underwater and through the planet of Naboo....in fact, worst planet name: NABOO......
Hottest star wars character: Princess Padme' Amidala..... _________________

I am a star wars fan, and tho I have a special place in my heart for the originals, the prequels were the first to have jedi that actually lived up to the hype (skill wise not necessarily acting) Darthmaul battle was and is awesome, to bad they couldn't find someone for Anakin that could act and learn how to fence. _________________

We just watched Episode III for the first time in a VERY long time last night. It was not as enjoyable as it was in the theater. It kept my attention and I liked watching it, but it was not my favorite Star Wars movie by far.
I'd say it's the best of the Second Trilogy.
If I had to rate them myself, in order of best to worst, I'd go with the following:
1. Return of the Jedi
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. A New Hope
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. Attack of the Clones
6. The Phantom Menace
Weird... exact reverse order... _________________

I would probably agree, with the exception that A New Hope would probably take number one. It started it all, and with all it's issues, still is a pretty good story on it's own. _________________
