Lieutenant Calodan was alone in his quarters, a bottle on the table, a glass in his hand. He was sipping some of his scotch, a rare bottle from Earth. It was something he kept as a creature comfort for when something was bothering him.
He didn't have as much face to face experience fighting the Dominion or Cardassian in the war, but he still had some heavy combat. He'd lost friends, and even a cousin to the war. But somehow, he couldn't understand the hatred he could sense from some of his crewmates.
Having the Dominion Ambassador aboard seemed..odd to him, but the anger some of the crew felt at pursuing this distress signal troubled him.
He took another sip of his scotch and gave the PADD in front of him another read. His proposal to the Captain on how to allow any Cardassian survivors access to the Comm system and library computer while still protecting Hartington from them. The protocols he had designed could be put in place at a moment's notice. _________________

After a restless night, featuring one two many scotches, the alarm startled Calodan out of unconsciousness. His eyes felt like they had sand in them and his mouth tasted like a Targ had curled up and died in it. He drug himself out of bed and glanced in the mirror over his chest of drawers. "I look like shit," he thought to himself.
He slipped a hand into his sock drawer and withdrew a small black hypospray and dosed himself in the thigh with it. After a brief sigh, he visibly relaxed. His features seemed more at ease and the dark circles under his eyes faded some. Reaching back into the drawer, he withdrew a small black case and placed the hypospray back into it, making a count of the hypo modules left.
"Only 5 remaining. That's what...10 doses?" he said aloud to no one in particular. Leaving that as a worry for another day, he slipped the case back into the drawer and headed to the sonic shower to finish getting ready for duty. _________________
