USS Guardian Readyroom
Captain Marek
Marek listens attentively while Kuplo gives his report, "Excellent work Mehvra, I believe the temporary loss of redundancy will be worth the gained speed." He shifted slightly in his seat. "I am glad that you and Chief Roe have been able to put aside your differences, I had some doubts that Mr. Roe would be so accomadating. Notify me immediately when we are ready to begin warp tests." _________________

Talbert tossed the PADD down onto his chair on the bridge. Every department was in full swing, and Lt. Thomas had her hands full with Professor Dorin. Lenara was where ever Lenara went, though at latest report she had entered a holodeck and spent quite some time studying combat techniques. That caught his attention, and he passed it up to the captain. Other than that, time was passing and the ship was coming together.
"Captain, all departments reporting in. The ship is ready for preliminary warp trials." He said.
He picked up his PADD again, and sat down beside his commanding officer. _________________

ACTION
After several hours of traveling at warp, starting at warp three and slowly increasing speed, the engineering team dials in the tractor emitters. Marek gives the go ahead and the ship begins cruising towards their destination at warp 6.
After a full day of travel without an incident, the crew is a little more relaxed. Captain Marek sits at the command chair.
Lt. Harper takes a deep breath, then approaches the Captain, "Sir may I have a moment?"
Marek looks up from the PADD he was studying, nodding, "Of course, Lt."
Harper smiled nervously and plowed on. "I realize the ship needs get to a shipyard as soon as possible, but long range sensors have picked up a planet with a very strange energy signature. It is barely class M, but at this range I can't tell anymore than that." She pauses for a moment, then blurts, "I would like to take a shuttlecraft and survey the planet, our present course would give a two day window to return to the ship without serious delay."
Marek watches the nervous science officer as she speaks, then ponders for a moment when she finishes, "I believe that is why we are in this region of space, Lt." He smiles, "How soon can we leave?"
Harpers jaw drops, "We, Sir?"
Marek nods, "Yes, Lt. I would like to accompany you on this survey mission. I have been 'cooped up' as you human's would say, on this ship for too long." He glances at Roekil, who looked like he was ready to interrupt, " Mr. Roekil, I would like you to accompany us." _________________

Talbert's eyes widened as he looked at his captain. Of course, it was captain's perogative, but it was also a questionable move.
"Captain...." he starts to object. _________________

USS Guardian Bridge
Captain Marek
Marek holds up a hand to Talbert, "I understand starfleet protocol, Commander, however, I feel the need to leave the ship. We will be less than a light year away, I doubt it will take the Guardian long to come to our rescue if needed." He turned to Harper, "Meet me in the shuttlebay in twenty minutes, both of you." Marek glances at Roekil, then Talbert. "Roger, you have the bridge." Marek walks over to the turbolift, leaving the bridge. _________________

Roekil turned his station over to a junior officer and headed to the armory before the shuttlebay. After a quick discussion with the Quartermaster about why he needed photon grenades for just a normal away mission, he was waiting in the shuttlebay. _________________

USS Guardian, Shuttlebay
Lt Harper arrived at the shuttlebay to find one of the Type 9 shuttlecraft with the the hatch open. She entered to find Captain Marek at the controls, running preflight checks. "Captain, reporting for duty sir." She sits at the other station, bringing up sensors and other auxilary systems.
Marek turns to Harper, "At ease Lt., I am hoping this will be an opportunity to become more acquainted with one another." _________________

(OOC: Before I respond can I ask exactly what we are doing? Is the Guardian moving on to the Panthanel IV shipyard, and you are joining them later, or are we holding place?) _________________

USS Guardian - Main Engineering
Lt Mehvra-Kuplo
Tapping his commbadge, "Engineering to bridge, before we return to warp, I'd like to take 15 minutes to make some adjustments to the deflector modifications. We've seen some fluctuations in the energy output that are disconcerting and the adjustments should smooth them out." _________________

"Marek to bridge, shuttlecraft Tucker requesting clearance for departure."
"Thank you and Godspeed captain. Permission granted." Replied Talbert.
"Engineering to bridge, before we return to warp, I'd like to take 15 minutes to make some adjustments to the deflector modifications. We've seen some fluctuations in the energy output that are disconcerting and the adjustments should smooth them out."
"Go ahead Mr. Kuplo, we have the time to spare. Let helm know when you are ready and we will get underway automatically. Helm, standby to resume course on Mr. Kuplo's say-so." _________________

Shuttlecraft Tucker
Captain Marek
"Thank you and Godspeed captain. Permission granted."
Marek tapped commands into the console, and the shuttlecraft pulled free from it's mooring and left the shuttlebay. As the shuttle pulled around, the passengers were given a panoramic view of the Guardian. Marek set the course, then spoke, "Marek to Guardian, see you in 2 days." With that, Marek tapped the console and the shuttle jumped to warp, leaving the Guardian behind. _________________

USS Guardian - Main Engineering
Lt Mehvra-Kuplo
Ten minutes after the go-ahead. The warp-drive is brought back up to full operational status and Mehv sends a quick message to the helm station.
To his crew in engineering, "Good work team. That was faster than expected. Hopefully the bridge won't always expect such performance." He chuckles to himself. _________________
