OOC was the Daniel's that Kuplo ordered on the repair team Bridge Daniels or and NPC?
Tanaka turned to Commander Talbert, "Aye sir." She turned and brought up the tactical readout, trying to see if she could determine the vessels likely best warp. _________________

pausing a moment to be sure she understood the words that he'd spoken she couldn't help but bite her tounge as she slowly turned towards the tatical station. well... this was entirely unexpected... she thought to herself as she brought up the controls and started a sweep of the area. crap... it's been ages since I worked a station.... gotta find my swing again
"I read nothing unusual on the freighter other than damaged areas from energy discharges. The damage appears to be from the Tal'harton weaponry." She rambled off and and checked the readings again as new information was brought up.
"There is also damage to their warp drive resulting in a plasma leak... and I'm picking up some signatures that show the Tal'harton were in the area, but warped out of here quite some time ago... there are no ships in the immediate area Sir."
She couldn't believe that she was actually back on the bridge of a ship... and remembered her academy training as well as she did. at least I sound like I know what I'm doing... she thought with an internal laugh. _________________

(OOC: Yes, I was referring to Ensign Stephen Daniels. I wanted to get a team with a wide set of knowledge as well as getting a player involved with that assignment. If this causes problems, I have no reservations if you would override my decision.) _________________

OOC Ok I don't see problem with it. Talbert, he's your character, what do you think? And I believe he would be under the Chief Engineers purview. I'll have Roe wait until Daniel's shows up.
Shuttlecraft Tucker, planet surface
Marek looked around, taking in the amazing sight. They were on a rock shelf that was nearly 30 meters across. One side was a sheer cliff climbing up and the other a similar drop. Splitting the cliff face was a ravine that was about ten meters across at the mouth, but appeared to widen out significantly farther in. Jutting our of the rocks were crystaline formations of various sizes and colors. The largest were nearly 12 meters in height and a meter across, the smallest a few centimeters. Nearly every color of the rainbow could be seen. As he watched, a lightning bolt struck one of the larger formations deep in the ravine, sending a crashing wave of sound over the three officers and bringing everything into a brief moment of sharp contrast. The formation seemed unharmed by the incident, although it was briefly luminescent after the electrical surge.
Harper smiles in amazement, "Captain, much of the interference appears to be coming from the crystals." She approaches a nearby cluster, "The crystals seem to have a structure similar to dilithium, but more stable. I'm going to collect some samples."
Marek nods, "Be careful, Lieutenant." He turns to Roekil, "What is your opinion, Commander, should we venture further up the ravine?" _________________

"I am not sure captain. Let me move a little ahead and see what the tricorder picks up."
Roekil moved forward on the rockshelf, towards the beginning of the ravine. As he neared the edge, there was a sharp crack and the shelf gave way underneath his massive frame. The last the other two members of the away team saw was him trying to pinwheel in the open space that used to contain solid ground before he fell into the ravine. _________________

Marek looks in shock as Roekil literally disappears from view. Marek pulls his tricorder as he darts to the edge of the newly formed hole. He slows when he gets closer to the edge, scanning the rock to make sure he doesn't share the same fate. After determining that the remaining structure would hold his weight, he steps to the edge. He crouches down and holds the tricorder over the inky black leviathan. "Commander Roekil! Commander, can you hear me!" Harper joins him at the edge. The tricorder reads no life signs with the interference, but the hole appeared to be several hundred meters deep, they were apparently on top of a large cavern. Not another one, please. _________________

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, it's the holiday crush now, so the next two weeks will be a challenge, but I will still be here. As for Daniels, he's communciations, but he's also a proficient computer expert. I think it would be all right...sorry for not responding, I was expecting all engineering. Daniels is on his way)......

"Thank you Lieutenant," responded Talbert. He glanced over to Daniels station and noticed the ensign watching him expectantly. "Ok, Ensign," he siad, tossing his head and suppressing a smile, "Go ahead."
Daniels spun and set his console on auto until his replacement could step up, and he headed to the transporter room, tapping his combadge.
"Daniels to Chief Roe, I'm on my way...give me two minutes." _________________

Shuttlecraft Tucker Planet's surface
Marek was still kneeling at the edge of the crevasse, trying in vain to pick up a life sign. What little information his tricorder could give him gave him no hope of rescuing the Brikar security officer. The cave was too deep, no way to climb down, and the sides of the cave were too sheer to climb down. The interference would make beam out impossible, and logic dictated that the sheer mass of Roekil's large frame made a fall from that height impossible to survive in this gravity. Marek found himself struggling to maintain his Vulcan peace and tranquility, an undeniable rage beginning to rear it's ugly head. He glanced over at Harper, who had returned to gathering samples, although every few moments he could hear her sniffle, she was obviously distraught. He slowly stood, giving the black abyss one last look, then turned back to the shuttlecraft.
"Lt., you have ten minutes, then we return to the ship." Marek walked purposefully towards the craft, a single tear of his own running unnoticed down his cheek.
USS Guardian
Roe tapped his combadge,
"Acknowledged Mr. Daniels, we'll be waiting for you." _________________

Daniels arrived in the transporter room and the team was assembled.
"Sorry for the delay, chief." he said as he sprung up to his spot on the pad. He looked at the transporter chief. "I guess the gang's all here, energize."
******BRIDGE*******
Talbert watched his panel as the team moved to the Starchild. So far so good. Now, if all holds true they should be at Panthenael without any further delays. _________________

Shuttlecraft Tucker
Marek was quiet as the shuttlecraft speed towards their meeting with the Guardian, Harper's eyes were still red from her earlier emotional outburst. Marek himself was using all his effort to contain an irrational anger. He felt as if this mission had been cursed, and despite his training in logic, couldn't shake the thoughts of being 'bad luck'. He had fought similar feelings when the Valley Forge had been destroyed.
Starchild
Roe smiled as they returned plasma flow to the system and the patch held. He tapped his combadge, "Roe to Guardian, we have the plasma leak repaired, another couple of hours and we should be able to return to warp. I believe the freighter has enough plasma left to make it to Panthanel." _________________

Talbert nodded in response. "Understood Chief, we are standing by to accompany the Starchild when ready." _________________

ACTION
With Roe supervising, the team quickly gets the freighter back to working shape. It turns out the Starchild engineer is more proficient than the Myosian Captain had led them believe, just didn't have the proper tools to detect and repair the problem. With both teams working together the freighter is ready for departure. Roe and his team return to the Guardian while the Starchild hails the starfleet vessel.
"Starchild to Guardian, Thank you Commander Talbert, we probably wouldn't have made it without your assistance." _________________

"Not at all, Captain Saia." replied the starfleet officer. "If you don't mind,we will escort you to Panthanael IV, in the event that more Tal Harton happen to be about. I think we might have a few tricks to keep them busy." _________________

ACTION
The crew settles in as the two ships begin the last leg of the journey to the Myosian Colony. After several hours of uneventful travel, the Guardian stops briefly to retrieve the shuttlecraft Tucker. Once they have docked, the ship returns to warp.
Marek strides down the hallway, his Vulcan exterior belying the turmoil within. He steps into the turbolift, "Bridge." Within moments, the doors slide open, he steps out and heads towards his readyroom.
"Commander Talbert, Lieutenant VanQuax, if you will follow me please." Marek enters his readyroom, sitting behind the desk and motioning for the others to sit as they enter behind him. _________________

Lieutenant Sarah Harper entered the main science lab, taking her heavy case over to one of the empty workstations. A glance around the room showed it to be empty except for the artificial lifeform that was standing at a station on the other side of the room. Harper had heard a lot of rumors about it, but hadn't actually crossed paths. Explains the security officers in the hallway She began carefully removing the crystals from the case, arranging them by color for now, until a more scientific classification could be discovered. She had half of the crystals out before a voice just behind her made her jump.
"Lieutenant Harper, may I see a few of those?"
Harper turned quickly, "Whoa! You shouldn't sneak up on people like that!" Harper blushed, regretting her outburst instantly, "Sorry, you just surprised me."
Lenara smiled, "It was not my intent, I was hoping I could borrow several of those green colored ones, if you would be so kind." She glanced at the crystals, then back to Harper, "They appear to be Banthium crystals, much more efficient than the dilithium you use for your warp drive. I could use them to get my ship under it's own power again. And I could teach you much concerning their use and structure."
Harper thought for a moment, then handed her a crystal, "Why don't you join me?" _________________
