"Captain," Smith began, "I know we can't do this every time, but I found an overloaded phaser tossed into the gainways was effective, and rapidly crumbled whatever material it was made of. The only drawback, was that once you crumble tohe gainway, you are directly exposed to space. The forcefields just don't cover what we'd like."
Smith went on:
"As far as our prisoners are concerned, PO Koester and I have temporarily secured all our Cardassian guests into one holding area, and all of our new guests are securely crammed into the other brig cell. Do we have plans on interrogating them at some point soon, or would we rather wait until all away teams are safely on board?" _________________

the Cardassians... she thought to herself i had completely forgotten about them
She looked around again as people began offering what information they had. She blinked a few times as she tried to recognize the voices and apply them to the faces she was seeing, but something just wasn't connecting. strange... she thought to herself and raised her left hand to her forehead and winced slightly as the pain in her arm mixed with the pain in her head. it was only a brief moment's wince and she quickly let it pass as she put her game face back on. She remembered being in the cargo bays, but for the life of her couldn't remember why she'd been there. focus Rea.... She shook her head as if to clear it and turned her attention back to the meeting at hand. _________________

(OOC: I don't believe we have any Cardassian prisoners on board)
Lieutenant Ghan shook his head and looked to the Second Officer.
"The damage to the nacelle housing is much more extensive than I had originally estimated. I could put it back together myself, but I'd rather have a spacedock available for use. I can keep our shields up, its weapons that are the biggest trouble. If Chief Brin can keep them off our hull, we can use the remaining aux craft to return fire... that is if we have a few pilots who are willing to risk their necks against these Nekrali."
The Captain nodded, not quite convinced of Ghan's suggestion.
"I'm still more inclined to go with Lieutenant Calodan's suggestion. Jim, you said that you dealt with their raider fairly quickly. Do you think that the Runabout and Shuttles could do it again?" _________________

"Yes sir, I believe we can. They Nekrali raiders are using phased polaron-based shielding. That type of shielding was theorized in the Alpha Quadrant but abandoned due to a flaw...the emitters could be theoretically overloaded with a hyperon beam followed by a modulated phase-conjugate graviton beam. When we encountered the Ciola we were able to fight off the raiders using this tactic. It overloaded their powergrid. Unfortunately, they seem to utilize suicide tactics and their ships are armed with explosive warheads in the fore of the ship."
He paused and punched up more information on the display. "According to the tactical scan we managed to get of the raiders while engaging them they are equipped with low-powered phased plasma cannons. While normally this wouldnt be an issue for us, with our shields compromised by the damage, they could cause us serious harm. They also appear to have some form of rudimentary torpedo system but we didn't see it in execution." _________________

Brennon nodded for a moment, thinking.
"We need to get Hartington moving at more than a limp again, I think it's worth the risk. Lieutenant Calodan, put together a fighter squad, Mr. Croft, Ensign zh'Rel and anyone else who is combat flight rated. Mr. Ghan, you're going to need to keep those shields up, no matter the cost. Doctor Azmay, work with Security to clear out the lower decks, get everyone up topside as fast as we can muster... I'd like to shut down life support on the lower decks and divert as much power as we can, give the shields an extra boost."
After a moment he looked down to his Diplomatic Officer.
"Lieutenant Zeara, have you had the chance to speak with Nekrali prisoners yet?" _________________

"Yes sir, I believe with the Williamette and two or 3 shuttlecraft with the proper deflector modifications preprogrammed we'll be able to put up a decent defense. I suggest we put the Williamette on point and have the Hartington follow her. The runabout is in better shape then the Hartington right now, and sensors should be able to detect anything in our path."
He tapped on his PADD and began building a list of all the combat-rated pilots on this ship. Lt. Croft he assigned to the USS Williamette and Ensign zh'Rel he assigned to the Shuttlecraft Archer. He started work on finding crew to pilot the three Class 2 Shuttlecraft that were on ship. He already had plans on how to coordinate any defensive measures required from the Bridge. _________________

Doctor Azmay nodded: "Yes, Captain".
In er chair, Ensign Tanay nodded too, and stood up, ready to offer erself to help cleaning the lower decks. E wasn't as good at combat flight as e was at personal combat. |

Clearing her throat before speaking she shook her head every so slightly and looked in the direction of the Captain.
"No sir, I uh-" she closed her eyes as if to try to focus them and returned her focus to him. "I have not. After we cleared the cargo bay... we were called here" she said and offered up small smile. _________________

USS Hartington Conference Room
Chief Brin Vek
Brin picked up the PADD he had brought with him and began typing rapidly. He had precious little time to work and the calculations had to be just right. The hull polarity was easy, but the proper shield harmonic frequency was going to take some time to calculate. He had the necessary data from the sensor logs and several simulations to work with, but he wanted a backup program if the harmonics weren't quite right so he didn't have to try to adjust the calculations manually on the fly.
Xavier Croft
Once Croft heard the Captain assign him to Calodan's flight team he was ready to jump up and get to work, but he knew it wasn't that simple. Calodan had a lot of work to do before is "Polaron/Graviton" one-two punch would be ready, and Croft was humble enough to admit he didn't have a clue how to do it. One of these days I'm going to have to learn some patience He almost chuckled, a small smile on his face.
"No sir, I uh-" she closed her eyes as if to try to focus them and returned her focus to him. "I have not. After we cleared the cargo bay... we were called here" she said and offered up small smile.
He glanced at the Counselor, the smile disappearing from his face. He looked away quickly, Mind your p's and q's _________________

The Captain's eyes narrowed for a moment, looking towards the new Diplomatic Officer. We're all under a lot of stress he mused Maybe I should... no, we're all trained for this, it isn't time to coddle her.
"Lieutenant, take a few minutes to head to sickbay... just to make sure you're fit for duty. Once you're cleared I'll need you down in the brig talking to these pirates. Get to know what you can about them. Bring Mr. Koester or Smith along, get a little good cop, bad cop going. We need to know what they know about other ships in the area, not to mention it would be nice to have a formal introduction." _________________

Ensign Azmay stepped in, nodding toward the Counselor and the Captain:
"Liutenant, this one may walk you to Sickbay, if you don't mind. By your leave, Captain." |

Nodding and instantly regretting it as a pulse began in her head with the motion, she took a deep breath and looked at Azmay.
"I would appreciate that Ensign" She said as she stood up and tried to strighten her uniform, but the movement only served to remind her of the ache in her left arm which she was fairly certain she'd fractured.
"If you'll excuse me Captain..." she said and stepped around her chair. _________________

"Smith. As soon as Lieutenant Zeara is good for duty head down there and interrogate the detainees we've got down there." Koester said. "I'll prepare a security report for LT Uvek's consumption."
Koester still had his trusty TR-116 slung in front of him with his hand hovering over the weapon. Experience in the Dominion War always taught him to forever be on his guard.
The ship was still vulnerable due to damage and he added: "Sir I recommend we have security on a yellow alert status with roving patrols and guards at key facilities in three shifts to prevent another boarding." |

The Captain nodded as he rose form his seat.
"Mr. Koester, I agree with you 100%. See to it."
He looked around the room at the rest of his team, no small amount of pride shown in his eyes.
"You all have your orders, lets get moving." _________________

USS Hartington Staff room
Xavier Croft
As the room began to clear, Croft walked over to where Calodan was sitting.
"What are my orders, sir?" Croft always had to fight a grin when he was under Calodan's command, which happened quite regularly. Croft had found he fit in with this crew better than any other he had served with, a side effect being he had never had a friend be his CO. Croft was getting better at being professional on the job, but it still took some work.
Chief Brin Vek
Brin was still coding away on his program, he had a few thousand more lines of code to go and wanted to be ready when he reported to the Chief Engineer. _________________
